What is the difference between granite and quartz?
Granite is 100% natural which means that it is a porous material. Quartz is Engineered, so it is not porous. Porous material requires a sealer to be applied to prevent against bacteria build up, staining, etching and will protect the stone in general. Granite requires sealer and quartz does not. We apply a 10 year sealer to granite when we fabricate your counter top, however, quartz does not require sealer ever. You can place direct heat on granite, however, with quartz you must you trivets or hot pads to prevent against thermal shock.
How often should granite be sealed?
When we fabricate your granite, we apply a 10 year sealer to the surface. After 10 years is up, annual sealers can be purchased through us or at your local hardware/home store.
how do you seal granite?
The sealing process is similar to cleaning your top! You spray the sealer on your counter top, let it sit for 10 minutes, and wipe it off! The surface must be wet with sealer, when you wipe it down, so if it dries, add more, let it sit for another 5 minutes and wipe off.
What happens if direct heat is placed on quartz?
When direct heat is placed on quartz, cracking, dulling and discoloration can occur. Damage caused by thermal shock is not covered under warranty.
what product is the most affordable?
Both granite and quartz start at the same price point. With quartz, the more movement and variation in it, the higher the price (i.e. speckle quartz tends to be less expensive than a calacatta marble quartz). Please inquire with our sales staff on pricing and availability of natrual stone products (Marble, Soapstone, etc).

what is the lead time between template and install?
Material delivery lead times vary between different brands and products and can change due to many factors. Install dates are dependent on material delivery timelines and could be moved due to material delays. Typical lead times between template and install are 7-10 business days. Additional lead time is required when using specialty material (any natural stone, porcelain slabs, Dekton, etc), and when specialty edges are selected (Ogee, mitred edges, laminated edges). Stones with heavy veining, including quartz, will also require extra time for plotting layouts and seam locations.

Do i need a seam? Why or why not?
Seams are necessary and depend on many factors including the size of the project and the material. More seams are needed when using natural stone and when the pieces are required to fit between walls and gables on all or most sides. Weight of material and transport into the building will also be considered when determining seam placements. Ital-Stone will expertly lay out countertops on the slabs based on grain direction and other considerations. Seam locations and layouts on slabs with heavy veining will be sent to clients after templating for approval, prior to moving to fabrication. Install dates could be effected if approvals are delayed. Slabs with heavy veining will require more time to plot out the best possible seams. It is not always possible to line up veining perfectly on seams or waterfalls. If lining up veining is of utmost importance, this must discussed at time of quotation in order to account for ordering extra slabs to achieve desired effect.
